My week: meetings, quibbles, and the need for a fandom Dear Abby... )

In more diverting news, awhile ago I posted a set of photos I've taken around Berkeley illustrating its coolness/weirdness/fandom infiltration, and mentioned then that I hoped I could add to this collection in the future. So, without further ado, I present: Geeks At Cal: Round II:
My school is full of wonderful, geeky, brilliant people (and some twelve-year-olds, apparently)... )

In addition, I've been having possibly too much fun noodling around with the Bureau of Communication. OMG, you guys, I've actually found
something more addictive than Akinator! I've saved a few of my favorites that I've produced:
Temeraire, ASOIAF, Hornblower, and AtLA... )

Reviewing these, I can spot at least one MAJOR continuity/canon error, and one character's name misspelled. XP My only excuse is, the sudden mania that produced these occurred at 2 AM.

Week (hamsterwoman and Rock of Ages) and weekend (AtLA movie)... )

For this week's meme, I felt like doing a more freeform one - it serves both as a good general codification for my shippy/fandomy thoughts, and allows me to talk about some stuff I don't get to go on about normally. The astute reader may notice that I have, in fact, done this meme before, but it was long enough ago that I feel like I can re-visit it without re-treading any old ground.

A-Z* of Lunasariel's fandoms (* not actually alphabetized)... )

Oh, and is anyone else having a weird problem where the characters immediately bordering any sort of coding (italics, links, usernames, etc.) sometimes disappear mysteriously? This is something that's been happening to me for the last few weeks, and I was wondering whether this is just a me thing, or more wide-spread.

Wow, what a week it's been! When I last wrote, we had just finished up our final D&D game of the summer, and everybody was about to head off to their respective institutes of higher learning. Now here I am, at least marginally settled into my dorm. My room's internet was only activated today, so I've been making do with my phone, which, let me tell you, isn't easy when one is making multiple plans with multiple people, responding to a few last-minute work emails, and dipping one's toes into a new fandom. But here I am, (mostly) alive and sane.

Thursday: final LotR marathon, plus some life suckitude... )

Friday: mostly doctor's appointment... )

Saturday: moving back into Berkeley... )

Sunday: hanging out with Berkely buddy M... )

Monday: more M... )

Tuesday: mix of very good (meetup with hamsterwoman) and very bad (XP)... )

Today was much quieter and more pleasant. I got a lot of niggly little annoying things done, and I have a feeling that the knowledge of all those things hanging over me undone was contributing to my bad mood. The solitude also helps, as I could go and find tomorrow's classes and get linner without really having to talk to anyone.

I've been plugging through a bit more Hornblower... )

And finally, it's the Return of the Meme! It's just a generalized fandom one this time, but I had fun with it.

30 questions' worth of fangirly goodness... )

After a comparatively long period of intelligent and rational discourse on a variety of semi-relevant real-world topics, I'm back with more unhinged fan-babbling!

Supernatural should be so much better than it is... )

Bonus micro-ramble on Game of Throne (yes, again)... )

OK, I guess I'm done ranting for now. I probably won't post again until the end of this week, because of finals and whatnot, but the combined forces of the Supernatural finale, the new Doctor Who (which I can hardly expect to match the fantasticness of last week, but can hardly be bad *crosses fingers*), and the new Game of Thrones (ditto) just might be enough to overpower what passes for my willpower to study the German future imperfect tense instead of watch geeky TV shows.
