My week: meetings, quibbles, and the need for a fandom Dear Abby... )

In more diverting news, awhile ago I posted a set of photos I've taken around Berkeley illustrating its coolness/weirdness/fandom infiltration, and mentioned then that I hoped I could add to this collection in the future. So, without further ado, I present: Geeks At Cal: Round II:
My school is full of wonderful, geeky, brilliant people (and some twelve-year-olds, apparently)... )

In addition, I've been having possibly too much fun noodling around with the Bureau of Communication. OMG, you guys, I've actually found
something more addictive than Akinator! I've saved a few of my favorites that I've produced:
Temeraire, ASOIAF, Hornblower, and AtLA... )

Reviewing these, I can spot at least one MAJOR continuity/canon error, and one character's name misspelled. XP My only excuse is, the sudden mania that produced these occurred at 2 AM.

Well, I'm back. (This is the last time I'm going to use that joke, I promise!) I've been almost completely out of touch for the past week or so, so catching up has been kind of a huge job. I feel kinda bad about this, since the hostel we stayed at had wi-fi, as did the con center itself, but I think Matt Smith summed it up best when he said, "Comic-Con is like going a hundred miles an hour, twenty-four hours a day." There were times when, academically, I knew I should probably take a bite out of the million and one things I had to catch up on, this recap not least among them, but I just couldn't muster the energy.

A week of utter insanity (and I mean that in the best way possible)... )

...and what I've been doing since then (spoiler: cats and books)... )

So that's my third Comic-Con, and the last of a truly exhausting series of trips. After several days of basically hiding in my room and napping a lot, I almost feel ready to face humanity again.

I'm typing this on my brand spankin' new MacBook Pro, tentatively named Sleekerton. The data transfer process from Lila, my trust old MacBook, which I began at around 8:00 Sunday night (this being Wednesday early afternoon), finally wrapped up in the wee hours of this morning. I was initially all O.o when it looked like, after more than 48 hours of near-complete loss of Internet (neither of my laptops could be used while transferring data), that just a few settings had actually made it over, but then I made the happy mistake of re-starting Sleekerton, and when he finished rebooting, everything was here, exactly like it is on Lila! So a big thank you to Mac! Your products may be nail-bitingly delicate, perhaps-more-than-slightly overpriced, and disgustingly trendy, but when they work, they *work*!

So it turns out that two days and some change of my only window to teh Intertubez being my iPhone 4G (Skippyjon III bore up beautifully, btw) means *a lot* of backlog. Going through LJ alone took me nearly three hours today! As usual, my sincerest apologies for not being as attentive to my flist as I should; it looks like my life is calming down a little, so I should have some time to work on it soon!

I mentioned C's and H's looming wedding in my last post... )

My next big worry: UC... )

In other, much lighter, news, I am now officially 21!... )

Nerd News (GoT season 2 thoughts, and Captain America: The First Avenger)... )
