So, this weekend was a nice long one (Thanksgiving and a few movies)... )

This week, of course, the big news was our Hobbit promo party... )

I'm sorry this hasn't been a very geeky blog lately - I'm REALLY looking forward to getting a chance to catch up on all the lovely things people have been sending/reccing me during Dead Week next week or, failing that, once finals are done. I've been keeping myself sane with little dribbles of Babylon 5 s3 here and there, with high hopes of getting it back to [livejournal.com profile] hamsterwoman this Friday, and now I'm only three episodes away from the finish line! Wooooo! I'm saving up the last three to watch in one big batch, since it looks like they're all fairly interconnected, going by the episode descriptions in the little booklet thingy.

"Interludes and Examinations"... )

"War Without End"... )

"Walkabout"... )

"Grey 17 Is Missing"... )

...And now I've just finished the second of three papers (only one more to go tomorrow!), so now I enter the Odinsleep.

My week was...week-y... )

I went home to Sebastopol over the weekend... )

Lulzy Temeraire fanart... )

There's no real reason to include this, other than it made me smile this week... )

Speaking of awesome Tolkien-related things... )

Last but not least, here's the second half of that meme I started last time! Just as a reminder, our lovely and talented participants are:

1. Simon Tam (Firefly)
2. Gertrude Yorkes (Runaways)
3. Stannis Baratheon (A Song of Ice and Fire)
4. Jane Roland (Temeraire)
5. Sam Vimes (Discworld)
6. Molly Carpenter (Dresden Files)
7. Miles Vorkosigan (Vorkosigan Saga)
8. Donna Noble (Doctor Who)
9. Billy Kaplan (Young Avengers)
10. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
11. Lennier (Babylon 5)
12. Angela Spica (The Authority)
13. Sam Gamgee (The Lord of the Rings)
14. Willow Rosenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

This past week hasn't been stellar... )

That isn't to say that life has been all doom'n'gloom, though... )

The one fandom thing that I've been able to make time for, that I was going to do come hell or high water, was the Doctor Who season premiere... )

It's been a while since I've done a meme, but I haven't really had the energy for anything long and/or intensive. So, now for something completely different! This is a bit outside of my usual fare, but I had fun doing it, and it resulted in an interesting story. Apparently, the movie of my life is going to be me as a Harley Quinn-esque supervillain meeting and falling in love with a Manic Pixie Dream Boy who later joins me in villainy, with whom I have a son we attempt to bring up to follow in our footsteps, but who ends up killing us. Oh, and cathedrals/churches/abbies/monasteries are involved somehow.

Put your iTunes on shuffle and create the soundtrack to your life... )

Well, I'm back. (This is the last time I'm going to use that joke, I promise!) I've been almost completely out of touch for the past week or so, so catching up has been kind of a huge job. I feel kinda bad about this, since the hostel we stayed at had wi-fi, as did the con center itself, but I think Matt Smith summed it up best when he said, "Comic-Con is like going a hundred miles an hour, twenty-four hours a day." There were times when, academically, I knew I should probably take a bite out of the million and one things I had to catch up on, this recap not least among them, but I just couldn't muster the energy.

A week of utter insanity (and I mean that in the best way possible)... )

...and what I've been doing since then (spoiler: cats and books)... )

So that's my third Comic-Con, and the last of a truly exhausting series of trips. After several days of basically hiding in my room and napping a lot, I almost feel ready to face humanity again.

Aurgh. When every semester ends, I spent a week or two just luxuriating in the feeling of not having ten zillion things to do, and twice that number of people breathing down my neck. But after that period, having this much free time on my hands just gets boring. I've whiled away the hours confirming with the flowers and consulting with the rain, and now I'm just bored. And so, I write.

D&D... )

Real life (gasp!)... )

Angel... )

Books by, for, and about geeks (and an awesome Tolkien quote)... )

Lynn Flewelling (not Nightrunner, for once)... )

OK, I'm slightly less bored now. ^.^
