Week (hamsterwoman and Rock of Ages) and weekend (AtLA movie)... )

For this week's meme, I felt like doing a more freeform one - it serves both as a good general codification for my shippy/fandomy thoughts, and allows me to talk about some stuff I don't get to go on about normally. The astute reader may notice that I have, in fact, done this meme before, but it was long enough ago that I feel like I can re-visit it without re-treading any old ground.

A-Z* of Lunasariel's fandoms (* not actually alphabetized)... )

Oh, and is anyone else having a weird problem where the characters immediately bordering any sort of coding (italics, links, usernames, etc.) sometimes disappear mysteriously? This is something that's been happening to me for the last few weeks, and I was wondering whether this is just a me thing, or more wide-spread.

First things first: I am now among, if not the gainfully employed, the usefully occupied... )

Some self-flagellation, plus thoughts on the beginning of Castle and the end of Downton Abbey... )

I finally finished that 50-question meme from however long ago, so, here, have the second half! As a reminder, the participants are:

1. Jennifer Quantum (The Authority/Stormwatch)
2. Tyrion Lannister (A Song of Ice and Fire)
3. Molly Hayes (Runaways)
4. Nealan of Queenscove (Tortall universe)
5. Susan Ivanova (Babylon 5)
6. Thomas Raith (Dresden Files)
7. Jean Grey (X-Men)
8. Tommy Shepherd (Young Avengers)
9. Emily Roland (Temeraire)
10. Phil Coulson (The Avengers)
11. Aliera e’Kieron (Dragaera)
12. Peregrin “Pippin” Took (The Lord of the Rings)

Mini-plotbunny purge... )

While I've found myself falling behind on my reading and shows, I've at least had time to do a meme. Part of one, anyway. This one is 50 questions long, which I'm fairly certain won't fit in one post, so I'm posting the first half now, and the second half next time.

1. Jennifer Quantum (The Authority/Stormwatch)
2. Tyrion Lannister (A Song of Ice and Fire)
3. Molly Hayes (Runaways)
4. Nealan of Queenscove (Tortall universe)
5. Susan Ivanova (Babylon 5)
6. Thomas Raith (Dresden Files)
7. Jean Grey (X-Men)
8. Tommy Shepherd (Young Avengers)
9. Emily Roland (Temeraire)
10. Phil Coulson (The Avengers)

Note From The Editor: 'pologies for the potentially wonky formatting/text. I've been wrestling with the bloody RTE since Sunday night, when it up and decided to disappear on me for no reason I can discern. It's back now, and thank Bob that A) bitter experience has taught me to save everything in a Word doc and B) the lovely people at LJ Support managed to rescue my draft and email it to me, so the text isn't as gone as I initially feared. For some reason, none of the HTML imported, though, so if yo see any stray bits of coding, please let me know!

This week started out frustrating, but got better; or, huzzah for first world problems... )

I finally found a copy of the highly recommended Temeraire-verse short story "In Autumn, a White Dragon Looks over the Wide River"... )

In other Temeraire-related news, this week's fanart, of which a new one goes up on Naomi Novik's website every Friday, has me a bit "meh"... )

To make up for the decidedly lackluster week, this weekend was AWESOME: hanging out with M on Friday... )

...more hanging out with hamsterwoman on Saturday... )

I meant for Sunday to be a homework day, but it turned out to be primarily a Pottermore day instead... )

And last but not least: meme time! Yet another non-character one, but another sort of general fandom/RL one. We'll be back to geekier fare soon, though, never fear.

22 questions' worth of chocolatey* goodness (* may not contain actual chocolate)... )

My weekend was probably more relaxing than it should have been (family visit)... )

Today has been much better than expected... )

Speaking of fannish stuff, yes, I'm still preemptively geekgasming over Crucible of Gold... )

In other fandom news, I've been trying to stay out of Dragaera fandom... )

As always, have a meme! (Note: I started doing this meme before the aforementioned spoiler, so I've chosen to proceed as though Kiera and Sethra really are different people, because screw spoilers.)

1. Fai D. Fluorite (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle)

2. Perscitia (Temeraire)
3. Teddy “Hulkling” Altman (Young Avengers)
4. Molly Hayes (Runaways)
5. Steven “Captain America” Rodgers (The Avengers et al)
6. Danaerys Targaryen (A Song of Ice and Fire)
7. Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings)
8. Susan Rodriguez (Dresden Files)
9. Moist von Lipwig (Discworld)
10. Kiera the Thief (Vlad Taltos)
11. Simon Tam (Firefly)
12. Anya Jenkins (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
13. Harry Potter (Harry Potter)
14. Aly of Pirate’s Swoop (Tortall universe)
15. George Smiley (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy)

Have some answers!... )

I'm typing this on my brand spankin' new MacBook Pro, tentatively named Sleekerton. The data transfer process from Lila, my trust old MacBook, which I began at around 8:00 Sunday night (this being Wednesday early afternoon), finally wrapped up in the wee hours of this morning. I was initially all O.o when it looked like, after more than 48 hours of near-complete loss of Internet (neither of my laptops could be used while transferring data), that just a few settings had actually made it over, but then I made the happy mistake of re-starting Sleekerton, and when he finished rebooting, everything was here, exactly like it is on Lila! So a big thank you to Mac! Your products may be nail-bitingly delicate, perhaps-more-than-slightly overpriced, and disgustingly trendy, but when they work, they *work*!

So it turns out that two days and some change of my only window to teh Intertubez being my iPhone 4G (Skippyjon III bore up beautifully, btw) means *a lot* of backlog. Going through LJ alone took me nearly three hours today! As usual, my sincerest apologies for not being as attentive to my flist as I should; it looks like my life is calming down a little, so I should have some time to work on it soon!

I mentioned C's and H's looming wedding in my last post... )

My next big worry: UC... )

In other, much lighter, news, I am now officially 21!... )

Nerd News (GoT season 2 thoughts, and Captain America: The First Avenger)... )

So here's how this works: every so often I get a bee in my bonnet about something or other, and feel the need to pontificate about it. I climb up on my little LJ-soapbox and post some long, obtuse ramble about whatever the issue o' the day is. While doing so, my apparent age becomes about 70, and my sense of humor drops by at least 37.8%. That's exactly what I'm doing here: whingeing on about an issue that only involves me peripherally, and doing so deadly seriously.

X-Men, continutity, ableism, discrimination, blah, blah, blah (srsly, just me venting)... )

Yay 60s!... )

OK, I'm going to wrap up this insanely long, meandering, soapbox-y post before it gets even more completely out of control. Happy Father's Day to all of you dads out there; I'm about to go have dinner with mine!

I just got back from seeing X-Men: First Class... )

I'm at my first D&D game in quite a while now, and I'd better concentrate on not getting iced by some demonic beastie or other, so I'll sign off for now. TTFN!

So things are moving right along in my little world. Glimpses has been ordered. Wildstorm has finally fallen to DC. School work is going alright, I guess. My forays into Great Literature continue. Life goes on.
