F-locked, but I'm always happy to get to know new people, especially if we share fandoms and/or know each other from somewhere else. The "comment to be added" thing is slightly erroneous, as I'm generally happy to just accept friend requests as they come, i.e. lurkers welcome.

Mellon!

(Whatever, I wanted to be the first to make that allusion. And to show off my matching icon.)

Gorgeous banner, btw!

Now that I actually have the space to give your always perfectly a propos icons the proper responses...I couldn't find a proper Moria one, so have some hobbits!

Gorgeous banner, btw!
Thanks! :D I was looking for the "I am SHER-locked" one that I'm sure has been made about a million times, but I stumbled across this one, and couldn't pass it up.

LOL! I'm sure there are a million versions of it, yeah XD

Also, yay, paid account icon binge! The "we are a hedge" one is hilarious! XD

May I come in? Hey, you got any cookies?

C'mon in! And, yes, we have virtual cookies of many varieties, but I had a delicious lemon tart earlier, so the virtual lemon tart with chocolate swirls* is particularly good today.

* May taste slightly of orc.

Hi! You know me as punkrockmuffinatrix and velveteenthestral. You might also want to follow the lj julian_griffith, since that's the pen name for that novel I mentioned over on AO3.

Hi there! *waves* Hope you don't mind if I friend both [livejournal.com profile] rikibeth and [livejournal.com profile] julian_griffith, since I've been following you on tumblr for a while (I'm a champion tumblr lurker), as your novel sounds like several different kinds of awesome (well-researched Regency romance involving two military dudes and a lady? *drool*), and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Hello there! I'm done with struggling with my creeper wantings to friend you, based on your awesome conversations with Anna at her journal. You Roland icon in conjunction with the fact that I'm just getting into Temeraire fandom might or might not have been the last straw in this losing battle:D

Would you like to be friends? I ramble a lot about fandoms and occasionally about real-life and love hoarding awesome people)

Kay

*waves* Hiya! Welcome to my humble abode...

I would indeed love to be friends! Fandom and RL rambling and awesome-people-hoarding are worthy activites, and ones that my own blog is also rather taken up with. And, I will take any and all opportunities to gush about my love for Temeraire, so doubly welcome! (A word of warning, though: my blog is rife with unmarked spoilers for several fandoms, including Temeraire, so depending on where you are in your reading, beware.)

Yay thank you!:) *friends happily*
I'm not very good with putting up spoiler alert myself, so I'll just try to be careful. I'm finishing my first Temeraire book only, but [livejournal.com profile] hamsterwoman and [livejournal.com profile] mauvais_pli are being busy tormenting me with hints so I'm all into my must.read.faster mode - as much as my work would allow.
Also, HAI to yout DWJones icon:D

Yay! Can't wait to read your reactions to the whole series, because, seriously, my love for these dummy dragons and their dummy captains/crews knows no bounds. And I'm kind of horrible about blurting out massive spoilers by accident, so I'll just keep my mouth shut re: hints to avoid temptation. ;) *mmph*

OMG, you read DWJones! I like you. :)

Dummy and loveable =spot-on adjectives for that, haha!)
I think I'll be sharing my Temeraire impressions along with my reading progress, because there are actually people on my f-list willing to discuss it (and I cannot resist the temptation to discuss! especially since I read a lot of obscure YA stuff already so it's doubly refreshing XD)

Yup, I love her! My love affair started with Howl (who is still my favourite drama queen ever), but it doesn't seem like ending anytime soon, because so much yet to be read:) What is your favourite DWJ book?

What is your favourite DWJ book?
For a few years, I took The Tough Guide to Fantasy with me *everywhere*: to school, to the park, on vacation, everywhere. So it would have to be a toss-up between that and Dark Lord of Derkholm, which I discovered via Tough Guide. Sadly, I wasn't made aware of Howl's or Christopher's existences until quite a few years later, so they don't have quite the same pull on me, but, heh, Howl is kind of the drama queen to end all drama queens, isn't he? I also remember rather enjoying the Dalemark Quartet, and a few short stories I've come across scattered about here and there.

Heh, I love the Guide! Crestomanci didn't click with me with the first book, but I might try them again some time. Howl...I saw Miyazaki's Howl first and was utterly smitten, then I found out it was a book and was smitten again, maybe even harder. So there is no overcoming my Howl loyalties, even though the second and third books featuring him did not seem as grand.

LOL, I didn't even know there was a third Howl book! I do remember not liking the second one quite as much as the first, though. That seems to be kind of a thing with DWJones: Year of the Griffen, the sequel to DLoD, felt like a very different kind of book - straight-up fantasy as opposed to loving parody - and I liked it a good deal less for it.

Second Howl book was at least similar to the first be the virtue of being a loving parody, and Oriental motifs are always a welcome thing in my books so I loved it. The House of Many Ways is what the third book's called and it was a much more straight-laced and kids' book and sort of barely relevant to the first two. At least Howl was there and Sophie too:)
Kind of sad if it's a general trend for DWJ, though.

Huh. Well, that's disappointing. I also like her better when she's doing more than just straight-up telling a kids' story, because I know she's capable of so much more. And she does loving parodies so well! She was actually what led me to Terry Pratchett, since she was the first writer I read who took the standard Epic Quest (or, in Howl's case Absent-Minded Genius Wizard) and pointed out that, hey, this is kind of goofy (while still allowing us to love it).

Heh, reverse order for me;) Read my first Pratchett when I was 13 or 14, never regretted selling my soul for him. My most long-running literary love, that man.

Mr. Pratchett is a most eminently worthy literary love! I keep having to ration his books, because I'll happily blow through any one of them in a day or two. I'm on Maskerade right now and, as always, enjoying the hell out of it. :) I can only hope to be half as awesome as Granny Weatherwax when I'm old!
