Dresden Files movie, pleez? An Angel-era David Boreanaz (in platform shoes, probably) as Harry, Bret McKenzie as Thomas (shut up, he's hot), um...Angelina Jolie or someone as Lara, Liam Neeson as Kincaid (or possibly Morgan), I dunno who for Murphy. The Dresden Files has everything a director could want: snappy dialog, lots of action (and pyrotechnics), vibrant, easily-recongizable characters, a heartfelt-yet-not-too-insanely-complex love story, plenty of comic relief, and great villains! We need something waaay better than that crappy TV series and the comic books for visual representation!

Date: 2011-04-14 10:55 pm (UTC)I actually quite liked the casting of TV!Harry -- but not much else about the TV show was great. (Well, TV!Bob was OK too, I guess, but I definitely prefer book!Bob.)
But, yeah, I'd love to see, for example, Sue the zombie dinosaur on the big screen :)

Date: 2011-04-15 04:28 pm (UTC)I hated Murphy in the TV show. So very wrong. She needs to be played by someone who no one would expect to be a badass. Jewel Staite did a good job on "Stargate:Atlantis", with playing a character who was cute and vulnerable but not just a Kaylee rehash--she might make an OK Murphy. Angelina would be great as Lara.
Also? Paul Gross as Michael Carpenter. With the "due South"-era haircut, please, not the Darry Van Horne mullet.

Date: 2011-04-15 06:33 pm (UTC)I remember reading something about how they decided to cast the actress who came to read for Susan as Murphy and vice versa, which never made much sense to me. I haven't seen Jewl Staite in SG:A, but going off her Kaylee portrayal, I think she could pull off Murphy (with considerably dialed down twinkle).
Also, Discworld icon FTW! :)

Date: 2011-04-15 09:20 pm (UTC)Meh, the TV show wasn't my favorite thing ever. *puts on Unpleasable Fan hat* Harry was good, Bob was okay (I rather liked TV!Bob's backstory), and Murphy was...not what I'd expected, but it was the Hockeystick!Staff and Drumstick!Wand that really made me facepalm. It was kind of like they wrote a decent CSI-esque cop/detective drama, and then realized they'd forgotten to put in all that magic and crap, so they just threw a few props in. *takes off Unpleasable Fan hat* It could have been an awful lot worse, though.
If a show is ever made, and it makes it to Dead Beat, and the entirety of that scene, compelte with Butters and his polka suit, does not make it in, there will be trouble. I'd also love to see Mouse, Carlos, and the entire Carpenter family!

Date: 2011-04-15 09:59 pm (UTC)Hehe, you're welcome :) Usually, with suggested fancastings I'm sort of going, OK, I can see how he'd be good, but I thought X would be taller/have grey eyes/straight hair/whatever. But Matt Bomer is the crystallization of the exact mental image of Thomas I did not realize I had. It's kind of amazing. And he manages to look perfectly coiffed and gorgeous even in the middle of a basketball game. Maybe he really is a White Court vamp.
Yeah, the TV series was pretty light on magic -- I agree with you it seemed kind of like an afterthought (though maybe it was an indication of budget to some degree).
Butters would be even more hilarious onscreen than he is in the books, and Mouse would be epic! And as Carlos is one of my favorite characters, I would also love to see him (done right).
