Writer's Block: Where Names Come From
Aug. 2nd, 2008 08:37 am[Error: unknown template qotd]A while back, I was really, *really* into Lord of the Rings, specifically this one fan-series called the Mellon Chronicles (I still am, btw). I was messing around on their website, and I found out that they had a name generator. I entered a few things, and got a *lot* of results, but two really stuck out at me: Meneluviel and Lunasariel. It used to be that Meneluviel was my screename and Lunasariel was an OC for a LOTR fic, but now they have switched places, and I'm known as Lunasariel everywhere.
As for my real name, I don't like it much. No secret meanings, no great history, just a thorny and frequently spider-infested plant. My mom says that she named me "Rose" because it was easy to spell. How unromantic is that? Also, by naming me thus, my parents have assured that I will never, ever recieve any flowers other than roses for as long as I live. Given my druthers, I'd want to be Eleanor (after Tolkien's famous flower) or Elizabeth of the many variants.
