Confusion and costume dramas

A blank "Friends Only" banner is kind of intimidating, so the only way to make friends would be to go over to *other* people's journals and talk to them, and y'all know how good I am at that. :P And I'm not all that great at separating fannish stuff from IRL stuff, so semi-friends-only is out, too. I guess I'll just have to hope that nobody I know IRL happens by, and if they do, they aren't SHOCKED AND OFFENDED. So I'll be un-sticky-ing the banner, although I will keep it around for future use, just in case. Does anyone have an "If You Ask Me About This Blog IRL I Will Disavow Any And All Knowledge Of Its Existence" banner that I can use?

In non-IRL news, though, for some reason I've been gulping down all the costume dramas I've been able to get my hands on.
( False Colours, my first foray into Georgette Heyer... )
( I read the first few Scarlet Pimpernel novels a few years ago, but didn't know there was a miniseries until now... )
( Amazing Grace was another one I was drawn to by virtue of a Hornblower alum in a prominent role... )
( Finally, I've slowly-but-surely been working my way through Garrow's Law... )
Anyway, that's what I've been up to the past couple of weeks. Oh, and it's been Mordor-hot, of course. I've been making things like deviled eggs and lemonsweet to beat the heat (hey, that rhymed!), but now we're out of both, so I'll either have to pick a new recipe from the Dorne section of the ASOIAF cookbook or stock up on storebought lemonade and potato salad. The pets are used to colder weather, so Moocher sort of stoically bears the heat while occasionally reminding me that he was bread for northern England, so any time I wanted to send some snow his way, he could totally handle it, while the cats Melt Dramatically™, grump at me, and fall asleep in ridiculous positions.
